IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OVERSTAYING REGIONAL STUDENTS

  • The Ministry of Immigration would like to advise regional student who may have overstayed their current permit to note that you are to wait for PI Uplift approval before lodging your student permit applications.
  • You are required to await the decision on your PI Uplift application before lodging the student permit application online.
  • Prior lodgment of student permit application while overstaying can result in REFUSAL of the application.

Passport Services Update  

The Ministry of Immigration wishes to inform the public that 30,000 passport books have landed and received at the Immigration Office in Suva. This batch is part of the 100,000 books that is being printed by our supplier in Germany.  The remaining 70,000 will arrive in Fiji over the next few months. The process of ordering another 100,000 has commenced.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Temporary Suspension of Citizenship by Naturalisation Applications  

The Ministry of Immigration (“Ministry”) wishes to advise the public that it is currently reviewing and amending the Citizenship of Fiji Act 2009 to ensure consistency, legal clarity, and alignment with future policy directions.

As part of this process, the Ministry will temporarily suspend the receipt of new applications for Citizenship by Naturalisation, effective 24 October 2025, until the completion of the legislative amendments.

This temporary suspension does not affect Citizenship by Registration applications, which will continue to be received and processed as usual under existing laws and procedures.

Applications for Naturalisation already submitted to the Ministry will continue to be processed in accordance with the current provisions of the Citizenship of Fiji Act 2009, unless otherwise advised.

The suspension will remain in effect until further notice or until the legislative review is completed.
